7.20.14 Italy Day 3: Florence

Headed back up north! Traveling from Rome to Florence by train took up most of the day, but we had a good half day in this beautiful city!

It was quite a long walk to the Piazzale Michaelangelo, but boy was the view worth it! We saw literally ALL of Firenze from the top and it was gorgeous!

Afterwards, Sam and Tony awesomely surprised me by taking me out for dinner for my birthday!!! :) Gosh it made me so ridiculously happy to be celebrating it with the best travel buddies ever, considering the horrible day I had on my actual birthday. I insisted on somewhere "small and local with legit Italian food" so we settled on this hole-in-the-wall restaurant and I ordered some pretty heavenly lasagna. Walked around the Duomo and ate a gigantic gelato for the jillionth time in Italy.

But the night wasn't over yet! Apparently we were going clubbing?! Ahh I was so happy. :) We Yelped a few local places for my young'un self and decided on a venue called Space Club... LOL. There, we met some cool new friends from Spain and China! 'twas a great night with good people. :)

Memorable Characters:
  • crazy Jamaican lady going apeshit on a guy as soon as Sam and I stepped off the aboveground subway stop
  • "What's so funny" girl ;)
  • "So your family must be from the Chinese mafia then?" "Yes... absolutely."
