June 18th and 19th were my first days of excessive travel. I said goodbye to my loving parents at LAX, then hopped on a plane to enjoy a 10-hour flight to London. Besides my two fraternity brothers Calvin and Dustin, I didn't know anyone in our large group of 18 students (all from UCLA, Cal, UCI) but man are they the most motivated, diverse, and compatible group of individuals to be with. We flew by customs, picked up our baggage, and purchased an all-day subway (ahem, tube) ticket to get to our hotel destination. Little did I know it would take three tube transfers, a lot of elevator (excuse me, lift) trips, and more walking to get to our destination. I wanted to kick myself for overpacking - one large checked luggage AND one medium carry-on luggage AND an oversized personal item carry-on tote? Overwhelmingly hideous and embarrassing. I envied all the people chilling with one backpack and one suitcase. Sigh. Lesson learned.
*Note to self: Samsonite luggages are the shiz! Lightweight to avoid heavy baggage fees, and easy to push instead of pull. Comfort > style next time please.
I also tried my first fish and chips today! A stereotypical English classic. Was slightly disappointed. I got to stop by Topshop and Primark but by then my mind was too traumatized from my monstrous luggages that I didn't dare buy any clothes. Maybe next time - I'll be back London!
Sleepy time now. It's currently 11:30pm here, and 3:30pm back in Los Angeles. My circadian rhythm should be fixed after a good 8 hours of sleep. One more day to explore London - and then after that we will be heading down south to the university to begin the summer sessions! :)
